Which glasses suit your face shape?
Your face shape doesn't dictate your frame, it guides the choice. Here's how to identify yours with three markers, then the shapes that balance it best.
Three markers to identify your face
- 1. The forehead — if it's the widest part, you're probably heart-shaped.
- 2. The cheekbones — when dominant, they point to round, oval or diamond.
- 3. The jaw — wide and defined, it indicates a square or triangle face.
If face height clearly exceeds its width, it's a long face, whatever the widest zone.
The 7 face shapes
- RoundBring straight lines and some horizontal width to slim the overall look.
- SquareIntroduce curves to soften the jaw while keeping the gaze open.
- OvalPreserve the existing balance: choose primarily by style, use and width.
- Rectangle (long)Break the vertical line: gain width and occupy height in the middle of the face.
- HeartLighten the upper face and give the lower half a little presence.
- DiamondWiden the upper face and pull attention towards the eyes rather than the cheekbones.
- TriangleWiden and assert the upper face to offset a wider jaw.
